Lisa Carter
Business Manager
Lisa has worked for Melbourne Veterinary Centre and Mercia Veterinary Surgery since 2007, initially as a practice administrator and working her way up to business manager. She has three teenage children who keep her busy when she is not at work. Lisa also enjoys DIY and relaxing with her family.

Emma Degg
Reception Manager
Emma joined the practice in August 2001. She initially started as a student veterinary nurse but soon had a lot more involvement in the admin aspect of the job, and is now the reception manager. Emma has a particular interest in marketing and promotion; she organises our annual open days, website, Facebook page and front of house. She lives with her husband and daughter, and they share their home with four cats called Barry, Gary, Steve and Harry, all rescued from Melbourne Veterinary Centre. In her spare time she enjoys travel, cooking and being with family and friends.

Gemma Thornburn Shears
Receptionist
Gemma has been working at Melbourne and Mercia Vets since 2007. She lives with her husband, three children, two Labradors named Oscar and Remington and a cat called Harry. Outside of work Gemma enjoys gun dog training with her youngest dog, skiing with her family and walking.

Laura Winyard
Receptionist
Laura joined Melbourne and Mercia Vets in July 2017 after finishing her postgraduate diploma in veterinary physiotherapy at Harper Adams University. Before that she worked in the human physiotherapy department as a receptionist at a busy hospital. Laura’s favourite part of the job is the never knowing what will happen next and, of course, greeting our lovely clients and their pets. She likes food, dogs and the sun (when it finally comes out) and dislikes spiders and being away from her dog. Outside of work Laura enjoys spending time with her friends and family and training her Border Collie rescue, Marlow, who she is hoping to do agility with one day soon. Laura struggles to choose a favourite animal but she thinks elephants are particularly awesome.
